JasimaSolutions jasimaBeveragePlannerJasima solutions is a spin-off from the BIBA – Bremer Institut für Produktion und Logistik GmbH at the University of Bremen. They offer consulting and software-development services with a special focus on advanced simulation-based optimization and Operations Research. Building on a solid foundation of state-of-the-art research they enable their customers to make production and logistics processes more efficient. In the scope of FInish jasima Solutions is developing jasimaBeveragePlanner.

What is the idea of jasimaBeveragePlanner?

jasmima jasimaBeveragePlannerWithin the FInish Accelerator we create a planning support tool with a special focus towards the needs of beverage producers. Our application allows them to increase the transparency in their supply chain and use this information to make better production planning decisions. This is likely to result in less waste, a higher service level (availability of goods), and finally higher profit for the beverage producer.
As part of our solution we will create a demand forecasting service and simulation service. Besides their use in jasimaBeveragePlanner these services will be offered as modules of further decision support applications in the future. Having such services available in a future internet platform such as FIspace allows us to target a much larger group of potential customers.

How did you come up with the idea for jasimaBeveragePlanner?

Papa Türk jasimaBeveragePlannerStarting point for our project was a brainstorming what we could target next to show the potential of our simulation software. We already were in contact with our business partner Papa Türk at that time and found out that beverage producers like them could benefit from simulation-based decision support. To cloud-enable our backend software was also on our R&D agenda for quite some time. When we heard about the FIWARE Accelerator program we realized that this was a great chance for us to create an agri-food production planning app on one hand but also base this solution on future internet technologies.

How is your experience with FIWARE so fare?

Our app uses many FIWARE GEs indirectly as we develop a FIspace app. Therefore we implicitly use, e.g. WStore or Wirecloud. Our frontend is written in JavaScript (using AngularJS), all backend functionality is implemented in Java. As additional GEs we use the Object Storage GE and also aim at incorporating the SpagoBI – the Data Visualization GE.
We attended the FIWARE Developers Week which was a very valuable source of information. After some time to get into a lot of new technologies we are now up to pace to develop our app as planned.

How are you using FIspace?

FIspace jasimaBeveragePlannerWe are using FIspace as the technological base and also as a business platform. Though FIspace we will be able to offer our app at least on a European scale. As part of our app we also develop a forecasting and a simulation service. These services will be offered as FIspace capabilities so they are also available on the platform for use in apps by other developers in the future.

Where do you see the jasimaBeveragePlanner in the year 2020?

In 2020 a lot of European SME beverage producers will be optimizing their production planning using jasimaBeveragePlanner. Furthermore consulting and software development in/around FIspace/FIWARE technologies will contribute a large share to jasima solutions’ revenues.
